Using Gelair A/C Blocks as part of a wider disinfection strategy

Using Gelair A/C Blocks as part of a wider disinfection strategy in a healthcare facility.

The following data was recorded prior to and following the installation of 2 x 1.0 kg Gelair A/C Blocks into the duct work of a Fan Coil Unit (FCU) of an air conditioning system, servicing a room within a health care facility.

The room’s surfaces, walls and ceilings were also treated with an EndoSan 5, aerosol disinfectant at the point of installation to remove any in-situ contamination.

The data shows the bacteria count (CFU/m3) recorded from nine testing points within the room and illustrates a considerable drop in contaminants over a three-day window from the time of installation.

Legionella control aboard shipping vessels

In February 2016 microbiological examination (carried out by a local public health authority as instructed by the MCA) revealed excessive CFU (colony-forming unit) counts of bacteria in the water supply of a large ferry owned by one of the world’s leading operators. The water quality was deemed ‘unsatisfactory’ and the ferry’s day to day operational duties were severely disrupted leaving the operator facing considerable costs and loss of earnings until the problem was resolved.

Star International delivers long term refrigerant solution for Brittany Ferries

Star International was approached by Brittany Ferries to review the refrigeration systems on the vessel Etretat. The aim was to find a solution that would comply with the planned prohibition of refrigerants with high global warming (GWP) and ozone depleting (ODP) potentials, due to take effect in January 2020 and impacting any vessels that operate in European waters.

Vessel water treatment - Biofilm eradication and control using EndoSan

A leading ferry operator’s vessel was subject to routine public health authority testing that revealed excessive CFU (colony-forming unit) counts of bacteria in the water supply of their ferry, meaning an effective treatment solution was required for a complex, multi-source water system before the vessel was allowed to resume service. Star International came on-board the vessel to assess the situation and disinfect the water system.
