Star International has supplied three life buoys, together with associated storage racking and floating lines to Westlake CiC, an equine therapy centre specialising in the support of children and young people with autism.
The equipment will help visitors to safely enjoy the site’s three lakes, where service users can experience nature first-hand, enjoy outdoor activities and learn about the abundance of wildlife that make Westlake their home.

“The team at Star International is pleased to be able to support Westlake CiC with this donation of marine safety equipment.
“We first learned about Westlake’s work when they approached us to purchase life buoys were happy to donate what they needed free of charge.
“On visiting the site, it was obvious to see that the team is working very hard to offer opportunities to children with autism and we’ll be keeping in contact with the charity to see if we can assist them further in the future.”

Westlake CiC has been founded to establish a unique, accessible autism-friendly community, with a bespoke blend of currently under resourced or unavailable facilities and services. The location was chosen as the Wirral and Cheshire West and Chester areas have a higher than average number of people living with an autistic spectrum diagnosis, and although established services are in place, additional resources are needed to meet the needs of the area’s autistic community.
The facility will support people through a range of educational and therapeutic services which are being developed with local education services and, in particular, with Reaseheath College. The site will also include five respite lodges which, when complete, will give service users and their carers access to much-needed rest and recuperation in a beautiful woodland setting.
