Star International launches global marine refrigerant network

Star International, worldwide supplier to the offshore and marine industries, has launched a global marine refrigerant distribution network for shipping, cruise and ferry operators.

The network has been developed specifically to cater for the maritime sector, facilitating the fast and reliable delivery of refrigerants direct to vessels in port.

Paul Antley, Director at Star International said: “We have been working with major shipping, cruise and ferry companies for a number of years and it has become increasingly apparent that operators want a reliable and cost effective supplier who can service vessels in ports worldwide via a single point of contact.”

“To this end, we’ve worked closely with our manufacturers and suppliers to establish this network, with distribution points close to ports across Europe, the Middle East, South Africa and north America.

“As a former refrigeration engineer, I have experienced first-hand the difficulties in sourcing specific refrigerants, especially when a vessel only has a short window in port for delivery and servicing. Our network will help to overcome these problems for our customers.”

The network currently services circa 90 ports and work is ongoing to expand this capability to sites across Asia, South America and Russia.

Star International is an established supplier to the maritime sectors, servicing a diverse client base that includes leading cruise and ferry operators, shipping companies, shipyards, commercial ports and military organisations.

Key areas of provision include; liferaft service and repair, marine chemicals, refrigeration, welding, marine safety, fuel stewardship, firefighting and ship-wide disinfection solutions.
