Star Boiler Water Conditioner is designed for optimum protection of ships boiler systems when used in conjunction with an oxygen scavenger.
The product is a dry powder compound containing alkaline mineral salts, sequestering agents, scale and corrosion inhibitors and scale conditioners.
Benefits
- Complete ‘one-shot’ conditioning treatment for simplified dosing and handling.
- Boiler kept at peak level efficiency.
- Heating surfaces maintained at optimum thermal conditions.
- Promotes protective films to prevent boiler steel corrosion.
- Dispersal action suspends sludge and sediment particles.
- Reduced maintenance due to complete conditioning of water and internal boiler surfaces.
Directions for use
This product is formulated to be used with good quality feed water. It is recommended that the product is dosed continuously with an automatic dosing unit, but it can be fed into the feed line by using a by-pass feeder pot.
Control
The minimum recommended dosage level is 1.2 litres of Star Boiler Water Conditioner per tonne of boiler capacity yielding a P alkalinity level of 150 ppm ( CaCO3 ). With an untreated system it is recommended to bring treatment up to a P alkalinity level of 200 ppm. The table below shows the amount of product required to elevate P alkalinity to a level of 200 ppm.
Please read the Material Safety Data Sheet before using this product for detailed information on safety and health.

Blow down |
Always refer to the boiler manufacturer’s specifications and work in conjunction with these.
Typical control limits are: P alkalinity 150-300 ppm as CaCO3; Condensate pH 8.5-9.0.
Testing
A representative sample of boiler water should be taken for analysis daily. The sample should be taken from the same point after blowdown, cooled and tested immediately.
It is important that regular testing is carried out to maintain maximum efficiency in boiler operation and treatment levels are obviously correct.
