At Star International, we work on the safety systems and equipment ships rely on every day. That includes firefighting equipment, liferafts, breathing apparatus, refrigeration systems, rescue boats, and more.

Our teams support ferries, cruise ships, naval ships, offshore vessels, and other commercial marine operators across the UK and beyond.

It takes more than engineers to keep all of that running. Behind every job is a team handling stock, orders, customer enquiries, paperwork and logistics. Whichever apprenticeship you join, you’ll be part of that wider team from day one.

We’ve got three apprenticeship routes open right now. Pick the one that suits how you like to work.

Technical Apprenticeships

Practical, field-based work. You’ll be in workshops and on board vessels alongside experienced technicians and engineers, working on:

• Davits, winches and lifeboats
• Fire suppression systems
• Liferaft and marine evacuation systems
• Breathing apparatus
• Refrigeration/HVAC
• Inspections and compliance servicing

If you like problem-solving, travel, and learning technical systems quickly, this builds valuable experience fast.

Warehouse Apprenticeships

Hands-on work keeping our stock moving. You’ll learn how a busy marine supply operation runs day to day, including:

• Goods-in checks, picking, packing and dispatch
• Stock control and inventory accuracy
• Safe handling of chemicals, gases and pressurised equipment
• Preparing kit for vessel deliveries and engineer jobs
• Working with couriers, hauliers and quayside teams

A good fit if you like staying active, working with your hands, and being part of a team that gets things done.

Business Administration Apprenticeships

Office-based and customer-facing. You’ll be at the heart of how Star runs, learning skills that transfer across almost any industry, including:

• Handling customer enquiries by phone and email
• Processing quotes, orders and invoices
• Supporting the sales, operations and servicing teams
• Maintaining records and CRM data
• Day-to-day office coordination

A great choice if you’re organised, confident talking to people, and want a varied office role where no two days look the same.

You don’t need marine experience to get started. For all our apprenticeships, we’re looking for people who are:

• Willing to learn, reliable and detail-focused
• A team player, whoever they’re working with
• GCSEs in Maths and English (or equivalent); grade 4/C or above

A few role-specific extras

• Technical Apprentices also need a genuine interest in working with their hands and learning a trade, willingness to travel (sometimes at short notice), and a full UK driving licence (or working towards one).
• Warehouse Apprentices need to be comfortable on their feet, lifting and moving stock safely, be 21 or over, and hold a full UK driving licence (or be working towards one).
• Business Administration Apprentices need to be confident communicating with customers and colleagues by phone, email and in person.
