Storage

The lifejackets must be stored in a dark, clean, and dry area, which can be accessed immediately in case of emergency. Do not compress the lifejackets in storage. Avoid any contact with sharp objects that can damage the lifejacket. Avoid storage in extreme temperature conditions.

Cleaning

  • Rinse the lifejacket with fresh water after use in salty water.
  • Let it dry naturally before storing.
  • Never use a washing machine or any other drying method to clean your lifejacket.

Service intervals

SOLAS/MED provisions should be followed. Frequent visual inspection is recommended, as well as checking for any damage (scratches/holes, deterioration) caused on the lifejacket’s fabric or on its components (crotch straps/ buckles). If you notice any damage to the lifejacket or to the proper operation of the buckle, do not use the lifejacket and contact Star International (we’re a Lalizas-authorised service station).

Inspection process

1. Lay the lifejacket on a flat clean surface. Visually check the lifejacket for any damages: small rips, tears, or punctures and chemical or heat burns,
broken or damaged stitches. Make sure that the lifejacket is dry before storage.
2. Check the retro reflective tapes to make sure that they are in good condition and adhesive.
3. Check the buckles for proper operation.
4. Make sure that the lifejacket light and the whistle are attached and that the reflective tapes have no signs of deterioration.

Any damage on the outer fabric/surface of the lifejackets or on the accessories (eg: scratch/holes, deterioration, color change or damage to the buckles/webbings) can affect the performance of the lifejacket. In case you observe any of the above damages on the lifejacket, do not use the lifejacket and contact Star International.
